Black Buna synthetic rubber compund, these gaskets serve as the SWPL (SHRAYOJ WORLDWIDE PVT. LTD.). Will withstand a temperature of 450F (232C) for up to 20 minutes.

The sealing tool is used to seal the metal cap seal onto the curled wall of flange fitted on drum, to make the drum leak  and tamper proof. Flange & Plug gaskets make the drum leak-proof. In the case where a plug is loose, the leak through flange thread is sealed by the cap seal sitting on curled wall of flange.

 

 

Raw Material Details

The HR steel (hot roll), CR steel (cold roll), EDD steel (extra deep drawn), and rubber gaskets for flanges and plugs are designed to meet ISO standards:

Flange: Flanges shall be made from low carbon Steel sheet confirming to grade DD or EDD of IS 513 or IS 1079. Other metals and/or configurations may be as agreed between the manufacturer and purchaser-. Minimum thickness of shall be 2.0mm.

Plugs: plugs shall be made from low carbon steel sheet confirming to grade DD or EDD of IS 513 or IS 1079 or zinc alloy confirming to IS 742. Any other material and/or configuration may be as agreed between the manufacturer and purchasers. Nominal sheet thickness for the Plugs shall be 1.1 to 1.3 mm. Nominal sheet thickness for 50mm and 20mm insert shall be 1.6 and 2mm respectively.

HR Steel (Hot Roll):

Hot rolling in a mill process which involves rolling steel at high temperature (typically at a temperature over 1700° F), which is above the steel’s recrystallization temperature. When steel is above the recrystallization, it can be shaped and formed easily, and the steel can be made in much larger sizes. Hot rolled steel is typically cheaper than cold rolled steel due to the fact that it is often manufactured without any delays in the process, and therefore the reheating of the steel is not require (as it is with cold rolled). When the steel cools off it will shrink thus giving less control on the size and shape of the finished product when compared to cold rolled. Hot rolled steel is used in situation where precise shapes and tolerances are not required.

CR Steel (Cold Roll):

Cold rolled steel is easily essential hot rolled steel that has had further processing. The steel is processed further in cold reduction mills, where the material is cooled (at room temperature) followed by annealing and/or tempers rolling. This process will produce steel with closer dimensional tolerance and a wider range of surface finishes. The term Cold Rolled is mistakenly used on all products, when actually the product name refers to the rolling of flat rolled sheet and coil products.

When referring to bar products, the term used is “cold finishing”, which usually of cold drawing and/or turning, grinding and polishing. This process result in higher yield points and has four main advantages: 12

  • drawing increase the yield and tensile strengths, often eliminating further costly thermal treatments

  • Turning gets rid of surface imperfections.

  • Grinding narrows the original size tolerance range.

  • Polishing improves surface finish.

All cold products provide a superior surface finish, and are superior in tolerance, concentricity, and straightness when compared to Hot Rolled.

Cold finishes bars are typically harder to work with than Hot Rolled due to the increase carbon content. However, this cannot be said about cold rolled sheet and Hot Rolled sheet. With these two products, the Cold Rolled product has low carbon and it is typically annealed, making it softer than Hot Rolled.

Torque Testing for Plugs

A torque tester is used as quality control device to test or calibrate torque-controlled tools which includes torque wrenches.

A torque wrench is used for the tightness of plugs is crucial. It allows us to measure the torque applied between plugs and the torque wrenches so that it can be matched to the specification of plugs for steel drum. This permits proper tension and loading. A torque wrench measure torque as a proxy for plugs tension.

Leak Testing

A leak testing is flow of air through the wall of plugs (via an imperfection such as hole and

crack). The test piece is pressurized to a preset pressure. The air in the system allows us to stabilize air in the plugs. If there is any imperfection in the plugs, it creates bubbles in water.
